A serious mistake
February 1st, 2010
Someone is about to seriously regret that they did not renew their domain name… The owner of serious.com has not renewed it, and since it is registered at Go Daddy, it is now on auction there.
Although there are better keywords out there for companies to use, serious.com is a pretty fine domain name. And letting it go is amazing.
With six days left of the auction, 59 bids have already pushed the price up to $18,005. Valuate.com says it is worth $100K.
The current owner, a New York company called Serious, still has time to renew this 16-year-old domain, though. Even after the auction is finished, they have several days to retain it, in which case the auction winner will of course get a refund.

Update: It seems the owner has found out and has renewed the domain. It has been removed from the auction. Although the registrant now uses a private registration service, the name servers still belong to the company Serious USA, so I gather it has not changed hands.
